There’s something interesting I’ve been noticing lately.
Not in my clients.
Not in other women.
In myself.
Even as a coach, even as someone who talks about alignment, intuition, and nervous system awareness all the time… I still catch myself getting pulled into limiting beliefs and fear blocks.
And recently, it showed up in a way that feels almost too obvious now. Like embarrassingly obvious.
I finally got a window decal installed on the front of the studio.
Simple, right?
Except… I had been putting it off for over a year!
The Story I Was Telling Myself (A Limiting Belief in Action)
For the longest time, I kept saying the same thing:
“It’s probably going to cost at least $1,000. I don’t have that right now.”
And I believed it.
I didn’t question it.
I didn’t look into it.
I didn’t get a quote.
I just… decided it was true.
This is often how limiting beliefs and fear blocks quietly shape our decisions.
And when we decide something is true, our brain and body work together to protect that belief.
We avoid.
We delay.
We rationalize.
Not because we’re lazy or unmotivated—but because the nervous system is wired to keep us safe and comfortable, not necessarily to help us grow.
The Moment It Shifted
Then one day, I was on a networking call.
The presenter was talking about accountability and asked:
“What do you want to accomplish before the end of 2026?”
Without overthinking it, I said: “A front door sign.”
And here’s the thing… this was the third time that week it had come up.
(And for me, three is my number. It’s usually my cue to stop thinking and start moving.)
She also shared something that stuck with me:
- You’re 42% more likely to take action when you write something down
- 62% more likely when you say it out loud
- And 95% more likely when you have accountability
So in that moment, I checked all three boxes.
And within a few days…
I got a quote.
(continue reading for a big reality check….)
The Reality Check
Want to guess how much it was?
It wasn’t $1,000.
It was around $200.
Two hundred.
I actually laughed out loud when I saw it.
Because in that moment, it became so clear:
That wasn’t a money issue.
That was a fear issue.
A form of self-sabotage I hadn’t fully acknowledged.
A non-commitment pattern.
A visibility edge.
A “what happens if this becomes real?” moment.
What I thought was practical… was actually the fear of taking action.
Fear Blocks Don’t Always Look Like Fear
This is the part I want you to really sit with.
Limiting beliefs and fear blocks don’t always show up as panic or anxiety.
Sometimes they sound like:
- “I’ll do it later”
- “Now’s not the right time”
- “I need more clarity first”
- “I can’t afford it”
And sometimes… those things are true.
But sometimes they’re just really convincing stories that keep you in the familiar.
Because growth—even when it’s aligned—feels uncomfortable to our nervous system.
Visibility can feel uncomfortable.
Expansion can feel uncomfortable.
Being seen can feel uncomfortable.
So we create stories that keep us small enough and comfortable to feel in control.
But Here’s the Other Side of It…Timing
Now, here’s where I don’t want to completely dismiss the delay.
Because I also believe this: Timing matters.
If I had gotten that sign when I first moved in, it probably would have said:
“Women’s Health & Fitness Studio.”
And that wouldn’t have been wrong.
But it wouldn’t have been fully true either.
Because over the last year and a half, this space has evolved.
I’ve evolved.
The work has deepened.
The conversations have shifted.
The energy has changed.
And now the words on the window say:
Strength • Connection • Embodiment
And that feels like me. That feels like Ether Wellness.
Limiting Beliefs vs. Alignment: How to Tell the Difference
This is where real mindset shifts begin.
Because not every delay is self-sabotage.
And not every hesitation is a limiting belief.
Sometimes you’re waiting because something isn’t quite aligned yet.
But sometimes you’re waiting because you’re afraid of what happens when you fully step into it.
The key is learning how to tell the difference.
And that comes from:
- Slowing down
- Getting honest with yourself
- Tuning into your body, not just your thoughts
Because your mind will justify anything.
Your body will tell you the truth.
A Question to Sit With
What is something you’ve been putting off…not because you can’t do it, but because you’ve already decided what the outcome will be?
What story have you accepted as fact without ever testing it?
And what might happen if you just…got curious?
Not forced.
Not rushed.
Just curious enough to take one small step.
A Gentle Reframe
You don’t need to have everything figured out.
You don’t need to feel 100% ready.
But you do need to start questioning the stories that are quietly running in the background.
Because sometimes the thing that feels like a barrier…is actually just a belief that hasn’t been challenged yet.
Getting that window decal wasn’t just about signage.
It was a reminder that the things we delay often hold more meaning than we realize.
That limiting beliefs and fear blocks can be subtle.
And that alignment isn’t always about doing more…
Sometimes it’s about finally doing the thing that’s been asking for your attention all along.
