About Kari

owner of Ether Wellness

Born and raised in Illinois, and having lived in different parts of the Midwest, I finally settled in Madison, WI, in 2016—a place I could truly call “home.” My passion for an active and healthy lifestyle grew from the moment I moved here, ultimately inspiring me to take a leap of faith. In the fall of 2022, with fears in my back pocket, I quit my corporate job to follow my passion.

Crazy, right?! Let me share how I came to this decision.

Even though I had a well-paying job, I was unhappy, stressed, and dreaded going to work every day. Knowing my body, especially my gut, doesn’t handle stress well, I realized I had to make a change. I checked my finances, made adjustments, and turned in my notice. Without the added stress of a job I no longer enjoyed, I was able to tune into my inner guidance and reflect on what I truly wanted. I asked myself, What do I love that has consistently shown up in my life? What do I want to learn more about that could also inspire others?

The answer was health and wellness.

I’d always been active, playing sports growing up and throughout college. But as an adult, I struggled with gut issues, anxiety, stress, and painful PMS. Reflecting on these experiences, I decided to pursue various health and wellness courses.

In my studies, one lesson stood out. My yoga teacher, Mollie Busby, taught the importance of modifying certain poses and breathwork for menstrual cycles and pregnancy. I realized that most courses barely touched on the crucial link between fitness, nutrition, and the female body. I made it my mission to dive deep into women’s health and fitness and to share this knowledge with my clients.

This enables me to coach each woman in front of me by listening, understanding, and validating her experience. With this approach, I can create safe, individualized programs that honor her abilities, lifestyle, values, and goals. It’s an honor to support women in maintaining a healthy menstrual cycle, easing into menopause, supporting fertility and birth recovery, and aging gracefully with strength and function.

The Studio

Ever since leaving my corporate job, I’ve always had a vision of a place where like-minded women can gather, learn, and grow together. Bringing this vision to life with Ether Wellness has been more than I could have ever expected.

It’s a space that is inviting and peaceful.

A space where women can feel comfortable in their own skin and be supported.

A space for taking a moment to escape from all the stress or worry and allow yourself to just be present.

A space to build a local Madison community (because I think we all know how hard it can be to make friends as an adult 😉 )

A space to embrace Women’s strength, confidence, and empowerment.

A space to better understand your body and honor your ebbs and flows.

A space for balance and connection.

A space to be patient with yourself.

Growth takes time, and every step you take is a testament to your commitment to a healthier, happier you. Embrace the process, you are worthy of the love and care you so freely give to others. And know, I will be right by your side every step of the way!

The Name + Logo

Ether

Characterized by lightness, airiness, and a sense of spirituality, Ether is often referred to as “space” and carries various spiritual significances. In Ayurveda (a holistic, natural system of medicine that originated in India over 3,000 years ago), it represents the true essence of the mind, which lacks a tangible form and can change us through our life experiences. Ether is the medium that the other elements occupy. It embodies the synergy of all elements and sometimes is associated with the concept of consciousness. Engaging in yoga practices can enhance one’s awareness of ether.

Unalome

The Unalome symbol can embody both masculine and feminine energies depending on the direction of the spirals. It represents the unique and evolving journey of an individual throughout life, reflecting a specific phase or stage of existence. It begins with a spiral that signifies birth and the challenges of self-discovery. As we advance, we emerge from the spiral and enter into curves, which signify moments of change or pivotal points that strengthen us, enabling us to continue our journey until we achieve self-awareness.
